The "F" style with F holes mandolin is purely American Design, Famously played by greats like Bill Monroe and David Grisman these mandolins has stood the test of time. The "F" style mandolin has some more ornate features than it's "A" style counterparts such as the hand carved scroll on the body, 2 points on the body and scrolls on the head stock. The MD515 is a great intermediate "F" style mandolin to get into with it's solid hand carved wood and hard case.
